Etana at Jamaica Fest 2026 in Silver Spring

Sunday was an amazing day in Silver Spring as the annual JAMAICA Fest 2026 brought Jamaican culture, music, food, fashion, and entertainment to Veterans Plaza in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland.

Among the highlights of the celebration was the appearance of internationally acclaimed Jamaican reggae singer and songwriter Etana, whose powerful voice and soulful musical style captivated festivalgoers.

Known around the world as “The Strong One,” Etana has established herself as one of the leading female voices in contemporary reggae. Her music blends roots reggae with elements of soul, folk, jazz, and R&B, creating a sound that has connected with audiences across generations.

For me, seeing Etana perform live was one of the highlights of the day. Her presence on stage added another level of energy to an already vibrant celebration of Jamaican culture.

JAMAICA Fest also showcased the diversity and creativity of the Jamaican and wider Caribbean community in the DMV. The festival featured numerous food and clothing vendors, DJs, entertainers, musicians, and community members who came together to celebrate their heritage.

From the flavors of Jamaican cuisine to the sounds of reggae and Caribbean music, Veterans Plaza became a gathering place for people looking to experience the culture, traditions, and spirit of Jamaica.

The festival also provided an opportunity for local businesses, entrepreneurs, artists, and vendors to connect with the community and showcase their products and talents.

Events such as JAMAICA Fest are important because they create a space where Caribbean culture can be celebrated publicly while bringing together people from different backgrounds. Silver Spring's diverse community continues to make the area an important part of the DMV's Caribbean cultural landscape.

As a photographer and media professional, I was grateful for the opportunity to experience the festival and document the people, performances, vendors, and atmosphere through my lens.

JAMAICA Fest 2026 was more than a festival. It was a celebration of Jamaican identity, Caribbean culture, music, entrepreneurship, and community.

And for me, getting the opportunity to see Etanaperform was one of the unforgettable moments of the day.
